sKunK - Twin Tone

After releasing their 1st album “Last American Virgin”, and asking guitarist/songwriter Tim Aaron to join the band, tour in support of the release, as well as co-write, record & co-produce this 4trk cassette demo with drummer Claude Coleman Jr., Twin Tone enthusiastically released a second recording advance. Unbeknownst to Aaron, and citing a delay due to injury, the three original members made a last minute decision to switch directions, opting to become a trio, and absconded with the cash to a secret location with producer Andre Weiss (Rollins Band). An effort was made to quickly re-write much of the material resulting in “Laid” . The remaining tenure of the trio was short lived.

Possibly appreciating the additional raw competition between dueling guitarists, Thurston Moore made an effort to re-release the original cassette version on Sonic Youths label Ecstatic Peace, but guitarist Matt Sweeney lost his initial enthusiasm citing a lack of new artwork from original album cover artist Simon (his poster art pictured here). Sweeney stays busy having just completed a North American Tour with Cat Stevens & Iggy Pop. Drummer Claude Coleman jr. is drummer of Ween and other notables.
